I thought if I restricted my choice to sony TVs LCD and 40 in. it would be simple but as usual nothing simple. So I have come down to the choice of the above two. Now I have to make the decision pay £870 for the 40w4500 wiht the great write ups or £1200 for the 40z4500 with the What Hi Fi write up which says it it is better.

I will be using the TV normally with the sky + but looking to move up to sky HD but will also be using DVDs and possily blu-ray. I watch a lot of sport on TV if I am allowed!!!!!!!

Will I see any difference when I pay £300 more than if I just buy the W4500?

Thnak you anyone with any ideas/advice/help

If you watch a lot of sport, the Sony 'Z''s 200Hz capability should really come into its own, plus the contrast/blacks are better on the pricier set.

However, it's a premium product, and i'd strongly urge you to see both sets (and rivals) in action before you make your final decision - it's a lot of money!

Mmm, tricky one this Graham. I'm considering precisely the same two TVs for my next upgrade, and face the same dilemma.

The Z4500 is better, no question, but it's quite a lot of extra money to fork out, especially as the W4500 is now readily available for £850-£900. I think you'd be very, very happy with the W4500, so unless you really must have the extra features of the 'Z', I'd save yourself some cash (to buy Sky HD, that Blu-ray player and lots of discs) and go for the 'W'.

Improving your source components will be essential to get the best from either of these sets.

My 100HZ 40W4500 is fine for football, tennis, cricket and for any other sport, to be honest you will probably have motionflow set to standard and not even high once you have calibrated the TV. Iv seen the 200HZ 40Z4500 in action and to be honest you wont see £300 worth of difference.

Besides if its sport you want to watch then isnt plasma the better option?? The only reason i got a LCD was because alot of console games have static images which could theoretically cause screen burn.

Go for the W4500, you wont be disappointed.
