That was actually my first choice but I just can't stretch my budget to it, unfortunately.

So if you were in my position and had to choose between the 2 which would it be?

I was going to buy the KDL 37W5500 but after much debate and discussion went instead for the TX-L37S10. I haven't regretted that decision and am very happy with the TV. The digital tuner gives a better picture than that in my Humax 9200 (which I now only use for recording)

I think I'm moving towards the Panasonic. We'll be sitting about 5 feet away so the 40 inch Sony might be a bit too big.

How is the sound on the Panansonic in your experience?

Thanks

It's pretty average - ie weedy, as are most flat panel TVs in my experience. It does have an optical out, which, when attached to my Onkyo TXSR 507 improves matters no end.

Another newbie with questions thinking along same lines but SONY KDL-37W5500 or Panasonic TX-L37s10;
Also thinking of updating DMR as a requirement for a twin tuner.
Currently use Humax to switch between freesat and non-freesat
(to obtain Radio Caroline) , will the Panasonic do this.
Think that like the Humax twin tuner you can't have one tuner
freesat and the other one non-freesat. ( I Record radio onto disk
and playback in another room - All my hi-fi is in a separate room! )
Any updates since last postings?
Regards Mike.

Currently have in viewing room
Panasonic TV TX-32 LXD52 (inc Free View)
Panasonic DMR-EH80VEB (DVD/Video recorder 80gb)
HUMAX FREE SAT HD Box
