Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forums and I'm excited to join, I need some advice and thought that this would be a great forum to post my questions to.

I'm in the market for a not too expensive gaming TV and I saw the WhatHiFi gaming TV recommendations.

My only thought is that the Sony KD49XG9005BU has a Panel Frequency of 100hz. This makes it a big upgrade over the 50hz of the other panels and I can see the difference in higher hertz panels.

I understand that the price of the KD49XG9005BU is higher and that there are no input lag specs for it as far as I can find. The input lag for the UE49RU8000 and TX-50GX800 is excellent and with the lower price, may well be worth it if I'm using a console (especially if consoles are capped at 60fps).

I'm looking to get the PS5 and I currently game on an Asus FX505GM (i7 8750, 1060m-6gig, 16gigs DDR4-2666mhz RAM, 120hz panel).
I'm pushing ~115 FPS on FIFA20 with my laptop so any panel would ideally need to match the refresh rate with the FPS of the game.

Does anyone have any suggestions, comments, insights?

Thank you.

That's a 1080p laptop and you're looking at 4K TVs. You're willing to run games at 1080p on the new screen? Because that laptop is going to give you a 5FPS slideshow at 4K. You need a full blown desktop 2080 Ti for 4K 60FPS in most titles.

Hi

Yes, I know that and that’s why I’m getting a PS5 at the end of the year *which I mentioned in my original post*

I’m aware of the demands of a 4K resolution as I’ve been an avid gamer for most of my life. I used to delid CPUs and apply liquid metal under the IHS to drop temps.

Going back to the actual thread, I need to find out if one of the WhatHifi staff tested the Sony and can give me the latency timings for it.

50 to 100hz is a massive jump in panel smoothness.
