Sony HX 803

I ordered a HX 803 from Sony Centre in April. The pictures on the internet showed it with the monolithic design and flush frame. Delivery was confirmed for June. Now delivery is August and the design has changed. The flush frame is now on the HX903 and HX 803 has the regular frame. I was told by the Sony Centre that the image on the internet could have been wrong when I ordered it and there was nothing they could do especially as the prices have gone up since I ordered it.

Is this normal practice? Does anyone else have a 803 expecting a flush frame?

No comment on the frame - I think the HX803 actually looks quite good in a classic design kind of way - it has been that way on the Sony website for at least a month or so from my experience. I didn't see it prior to that. You do seem to be being messed around on the delivery date though. Presumably it's the 46HX803. This is just becoming available through other retailers with M&S and John Lewis selling it and Comet now listing on the website. M&S say delivery within 2 weeks and Comet say they could deliver it by next Monday.

The early pre-order prices were quite a good saving weren't they? Are some Sony Centres giving priority to orders at higher prices?

prices have rocketed for the sony recently i was only checking peter tysons website on monday and the 60-inch was £3500 checked just today and it has gone upto £4500!!!

Similar thing with the HX703, the box shows the picture going right to the edge of the screen which of course it doesn't!

I was going to place an order for a Sony 46HX903 about 3 months ago which with 2 sets of glasses and a monolithic stand would have been £2500,quite a good deal in hindsight,however, the monolithic stand is not fitted to any of the 3D models so im relieved i never purchased as it would have looked totally different when it arrived and did not fit !!!The sony website is really plugging the Monolithic design yet the guys in the stores have not got a clue as to the specs and accessories..
