This may be s stupid question, but "he who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes, he who does not ask is a fool forever"

Anyway...

I am considering the HTIS100 surround sound system to compliment my Sony BDPS350 Blue ray and KDL-40Z4500 TV.

The specs for the HTIS100 say:

Upscaling (Component / HDMI™)

NO / NO

My BDPS350 Blueray does upscale but what does this mean when I connect the Blueray though the HTIS100?

Does the spec of the HTIS100 simply say no upscaling as there is no blueray/dvd player included?

Basically it means there is no upscaling chip included within the HTIS100 system so you can't plug in a source running at standard definition and get the HTIS100 to upscale it. It won't have any bearing on your Blu-Ray player as you say, since this is already upscaling the signal for you. Anything else you plug in will be upscaled by the TV so there's no need to be concerned about this.
