sony bdps550 bluray player

I have purchased the above player not realising its region 1 only (from Canada via ebay) is there any way to convert to multi region or region 2.

Any help in this matter would be very gratefully received

there is no remote control hack for the sony, only way is to have it chipped, which is going to cost money.

second option buy region 1 discs from the states, from amazon etc.

Not entirely true, you can hack the S550 (and many others) using a Logitech Harmony or All4One remote control. There are plenty of details about how to do it if you do a bit of Googling.

yes, but if you check it out the remote hacks wont work with a region 1 player
