I've got quite a few DVD's so what I need to know is does the Sony BDPS350 Blu Ray Player deliver better upscaled DVD pictures at 720p

I only have 42ins HD ready ( not full HD TV)

I can get the Sony for £179.00 but I paid £199 for my DENON albeit 12 months ago

So....keep the Denon or risk it for a biscuit...and go for a Sony BDPS350 Blu Ray Player?

I used to have the Denon and my S550 is at least as good if not better at upscaling dvds. Sell the Denon (you should get around £120 for it) and buy the Sony.

Hi Gerrardasnails

Don't forget my TV is only 1024 X 768 and therefore I will need to set at a simple 720p for both Blu Ray and DVD's...I take it that the Sony can be set to 720p in each case as not a fan of 1080i form what I've seen to date...My TV also doesn't do 1080p/24fps

I understand. My tv is 1080p but no 24fps. The picture with bluray is incredible - you will be blown away. The 720p doesn't matter. You are getting true 720p with bluray - dvd is 476 or something and your dvd scaler upscales it to 720p. And yes, you can set the machine to output to your screens capability.

I've read that you can set the SONY Blu Ray Player to either 1080i or 1080p...is that correct as I would wish to set it at 720p bearing in mind I only have an HD ready TV and not a full HD set

Also am I likely to experience judder on an HD ready set and can you turn off the 24fps sertting on the SONY as I won't be utilising this feature

I don't know about the settings for 720p as I only look for 1080p.

I couldn't get a picture when I set it for 24fps.
