Hi

You may recalling me whining a while back about my Sony BDP S550 not resuming playback when pressing stop and having to forward to the point you left off etc.

Someone replied stating that this was down to the BD spec and that it was the actual disks that were either enabled this way or not.

However, after a year of ownership and 3 firmware upgrades I'm now happy that this doesn't seem to be the case. I've been watching a BD over 3 evenings, turning the player off each night and the next viewing resumes from where it left off. I've tried this with Casino Royale which only ever resumed from the start of the film when stopped.

So - if this bothers anyone else - update your firmware!!!

I've got the latest firmware on my 760 and it will not resume Terminator Salvation.

Keeps telling me I should find something better to watch! Arf...

Haven't got the foggiest, I've only used it a couple of times, haven't really looked that closely at the options.

What was really annoying was that Terminator Salvation is the slowest loading BD I've come across so far, and, because the BDP would power off after a while it had to go through the entire loading process all over again before I could navigate my way back to where I was. In fact it did that even if I just pressed stop, never mind if switched itself off, in the end I had to pause it and switch the screen to a different input, which was mildly annoying.
