Hi evryone,

Does anyone have any idea when the Sony 46HX903 (as reviewed in last months issue) will be available.

I've had one on order for several weeks now, with no news as to a date when it will arrive.

Also would it be possible for the magazine to either print a list of setting used in any review, or a link to them on the web site.

Many thanks.

Hi Jase,

As you may already know this set was due for release end of June, but put back until now because of panel availability. Both the 52" and 46" sets have started to trickle out supply wise now in the UK, I got mine yesterday, ordered at the beginning of June through Tec 7. I know from other forums which I've been part of, with specific threads on this TV that several people who ordered through Sony Centres around March / April time are still waiting on news, so depending on when you ordered you might still have a wait on your hands.

Who did you order through, as with stock now in the UK they might be able to give you some more info.

Hope this helps

Peter

Hi, I am also looking to buy a 46HX903. I've just checked the Sony website and they are quoting availability at the end of September!! PRC Direct may have them (they are showing 'limited stock' on their site). This is very similar to the situation with the top end LED Philips TV, the 9704. I was going to get one of those but my local dealer was not taking orders and was already talking about the replacement model before any orders for the 9704 were completed!! I wonder if this will be the case with the Sony - if panel availability is an issue then maybe we won't see any more HX903s because the replacement is in the pipeline?

What HiFi, can you do your thing and get some info about this from Sony please?

We're on the case - not least because we're annoyed we uniwittingly ran the review before stocks were available! We don't like to feature products that people can't buy....

Oddly enough, I had a meeting with a retailer earlier who was incredibly frustrated that the high-end Sony and Philips sets weren't ready for them to sell. Or ready but without their 3D packs.

Received my 52HX903 last week from the local Sony dealer. Apparently all back orders will be fulfilled by the end of September. Really pleased with the new Sony picture quality is outstanding.

Thanks for the info Peter.

What's your first impressions of the picture and build quality?

How's it compare to other sets you've viewed? Did you look at the Panasonic VT20 or Samsung C8000?

Does it live up to the hype as I've read a few less favourable reviews?

Thanks again!

Hi Jase,

My first impressions are this is an outstanding set, clearly everyone has their own views and favourite sets as we all know from this forum but I demo'd both the VT20 and the Samsung as due to the outlay I had to be sure I got the purchase right and for me the Sony is better than both as an all round package.

Design and build quality are fantastic, it looks great, I've got mine hanging on a wall and it looks seamless. Picture quality is superb, even out of the box without any adjusting the picture quality is great, I'd go as far to say its the best picture quality I've seen on 2D, blacks are very, very black and colour reproduction is fantastic, anything on HD and Blu-ray just looks out of this world, but thats just my opinion

. 3D is also excellent, part of the reason I bought the Sony over the Panasonic was that I found the Sony 3D easier to watch (less flicker) and also the glasses ore wearable as the Panasonics are horrible.

Overall then, yes its expensive, although I paid £2200 for mine rather than the £2500 its at now, but I am so happy with my purchase and look forward to many great movie nights whether they be in 2D or 3D.

Hope this helps
