Sony 40W4500 and Onkyo 606 setup problems

Hi

I hope someone can help me - I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have just taken delivery of a Sony 40W4500 and connected it up to my Virginmedia V+ box and Onkyo 606 the same way as with my previous TV - HDMI and optical from V+ box to Onkyo, and HDMI from Onkyo to Sony. But for some reason the picture isn't showing up on the TV. The sound is working fine, but the picture is only showing up if I connect the V+ box directly to the TV, not through the Onkyo.

This is also the case with the Blu Ray player, so obviously I want it to work through the Onkyo to get HD audio.

What am I doing wrong?

Actually, don't worry about it - I swapped the HDMI cables around, and that seemed to work. I had changed it so that the older cable was going from the Onkyo to the TV. Is there any reason why my older HDMI cable, which I got nearly two years ago, wouldn't be up to scratch?
