As the title says. Had negotiated Currys down to £869 for the W and have seen the V for £700-750. Anyone know if its worth the extra for the W.

Going to be used for Sky+ and hopefully in the near future Xbox 360 and a Blue ray player.

Thanks all

I'm also interested in the distinction between the two. What sort of source would show up the difference between having x.v.Colour/Live Colour Creation and not having those and if they're not available yet what's the timescale on getting them?

Bar this the only other distinction that I might worry about is the difference between an 8-bit and a 10-bit display, I think a bit of viewing might be the order of the day...

Hi, I have the 40w4000 and use my PS3 as the a Blu ray player, I have to say the picture is definitily the best I have seen on any T.V....I tested a few when I was shopping around. As for the comparison between the two..I'm not sure, but the you will not go wrong with the 40w4000, especially at that price!!!

I have recently purchased the 40w4000 and can whole-heartedly recommend it is worth the extra cash over the 40v4000. Compared both side by side while both were connected to the same ps3 ( using HDMI distribution box ). Picture was extreamly good on both sets ( in cinema mode ) but in my humble opinion the 40w out-classed it in rendering more detail in darker scenes. Casino Royale was the test disc used......

As for the 40w being a 10-bit panel, apparently it can distinguish and render a far greater gradient of colour , helping to eliminate banding, and providing support for xv colour sources such as HD camcorders...... ( I soooooooo want one of those! )

If your budget allows go for the 40w...... I am glad I did
