Snooker on HUMAX = Yuk!!!

Hi

I recently inherited a 2 year old Humax 9300T PVR. Generally the tuner is better than the one in the Panasonic TV – better colour and a more vibrant picture.

But when watching the snooker the motion is horrible. The white is worst with a 'tail' behind it most of the time when it's moving.

Is the HUMAX just not very good when it comes to motion or are there settings I need to play with? I am using the HDMI cable that came with it (to the receiver) so could that be the culprit?

i cant see it being the humax ( although dont have it ) prob the tv

not looked at teh model of teh humax is it hd or standard freeview ?

Just standard def...

TV is HD, not full HD.

I have the freesat equivalent and do not see these problems. I use the cable provided with the box ( I have tried an expensive cable and could see no difference).

Hmm, I wonder what it could be then? I have a good high gain aerial so it's not signal strength, and upgrading coax etc.

Could it be an upscaling issue? I think I've set the box to output at 576 and let the TV upscale...

Could be.

I also have the Freesat box, and *did* see exactly this problem when connected to a CRT TV via SCART at 576i, but when I upgraded to a Full HD plasma and used the HDMI connection at 1080i instead, the trails vanished.

I'd certainly try 720p and/or 1080i output if the box will.
