Sky Now TV box without Sky?

If I get the £10 Sky Now TV box, can I just use it to add the free catch up services (iPlayer etc) without paying any subscription to Sky?

Hope you get one that works, the customer service is absolute rubbish.

My remote was DOA, reported it via the online chat, not even going into detail but pants.
