After much waiting my Yammy amp gets delivered next week (fingers crossed) however i am unsure as to the best method to connect the sky+, do i run thru the amp (Svideo) and amp to tv (HDMI) or via scart to TV ?

Cheers

For the best picture, use a good quality SCART cable, and in the video menu of the Sky+ select RGB as the output format.
You may have to select RGB in on your TV's input preferences as well, or it may default to bog standard composite instead.
Going RGB will always give you much better picture quality than SVHS.
You can then get Dolby 5.1 audio by using a coax cable direct to your Yammy.

In this way, you can still get ordinary stereo through your TV set via the SCART connection, then turn on the Yammy to get improved audio or surround sound when available.

If i connect via scart direct to TV rather than Svideo into amp and the HDMI to TV does this mean i will not get any upscaling function on the amp

Technically RGB is preffered to SVideo.

IMHO you may not be able to spot any major difference in picture quality with either using Sky+?

So if the amp will upscale SVideo but not RGB Scart then I would stick with the SVideo and the amp route
