Hi,

Not sure if anybody can help with this. My Samsung SkyHD box doesn't seem bad at scaling SD channels. Even better with a new mains lead.

Would the scaling on a 1TB be the same quality as the Samsung?

Think 1TB is Thomson. Do different manufacturers use different chip sets?

Sure some of you have upgraded. to 1TB boxes. All advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Upgraded about a year ago. My 1TB is Amstrad, I just assumed they all were.

I did think at the time that it was a slight improvement scaling-wise. (Though I did run the Sky straight to the TV rather than through the receiver at the same time as the box swap). But always thought the previous Samsung was pretty decent too.

Sky+HD boxes are renowned for their poor upscaling (and de-interlacing) and you should get better results setting the box to 'Auto' and letting your AV amp/TV do the upscaling.

Yes,pretty much.

All currently supplied Sky boxes are Amstrads. Sky bought Amstrad back in '07 with the intention of keeping manufacturing in-house/reducing costs, so hardly surprising
