Sky HD and Denon 2310 - Lip synch issues

I've had Sky+ HD installed this morning. It's hooked up to the Denon 2310 via HDMI for video and digital optical for the audio.

The first thing that I've noticed is lip synch issues. I've tried addressing things via the Sky HD box by adjusting the Digital Audio Output Delay setting which allows you to increase the delay in 20ms intervals. I've not found a satisfactory setting.

Are there any other methods I could try? (e.g. does the Denon have some sort of auto sync setting?). Unfortunately, as has been said repeatedly on this forum, the Denon manual is an absolute mare and next to useless.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Oddly enough, I don't think it's your Sky+HD or 2310, I had a similar issue recently.

I would bet you have your 9664, pixel perfect HD engine set to minimum, just leave all the audio delays at 0, then turn the processing engine off on your tv, I am guessing this will re-align the picture and sound.

I know it probably does not solve your issue as you would prefer to leave this process on, but when I had my 1910, with my 7404 set to minimum I could never get them to match, I think it is something to do with the extra frames the TV adds in, it seems to require a - setting not a + setting, which the Yamaha amp I now have does.

My setting on the amp is -48 (24fps material) -100 (50fps material) and -120 (60fps material), which is possible on my Yamaha.

I think you could be right. I quickly set the audio delay to 0 and changed from Personal Setting (Perfect Natural Motion set to minimum) to Cinema mode which, I believe, turns most/all such processing off. The lip synch issues appear a lot better.

I'll experiment more at full time (watching the Merseyside derby).

Would love to know if you guy's found a solution to the lip-sync issue?

The guy that installed my new system last week,is coming back today to instal and set up an optical cable ! As it stands at present this type of problem hasn't occured that many times to be of a worry to me, very infrequent, although with all the kit being new i haven't messed about turning on this process and that, It will be facinating to see, if when the optical is introduced that this becomes an issue? If you have solved this problem, could you let me know?

Your Sky HD box has an adjustment for lip sync problems. Go into the set up menu and then go to sound set up. I had some problems and that cured them.
