What is the best solution for getting aerial / satellite cables inside the room, is a normal wall socket the best, are they screened?, i have seen small hole tidy solutions and they look quite good.

Hi my friend installs aerials for a living and he always advises customers wherever possible to go direct from aerial to source componet tv/freeview box etc not to use a wall socket especially with freeview as a slight drop off in signal strength is sometimes the difference between a so so picture and a very good one.

also an aerial and satellite installer, and as stu31 says, wherever possible, idealy the cable should run from aerial/satellite direct to stb, i.e without a wall socket, any time you join the cable your going to introduce losses and increase the potentail of faults, as for the wall plates, they come both screened and unscreened

My aerial cable comes from my aerial into the house then i have a QED lead pluged in to it going to a d.v.d recorder then one out going to my t.v,is this o.k.

yeah thats fine, and am assuming your only using it to receive analogue seeing as you didnt mention it going into a stb, if your in a good signal area its not a problem,

Hi Swampydrill,

As has already been pointed out cabling directly from the aerial to the input component(s) will give the best performance. Ensure that the cable used conforms to at least BS EN50177 standard (look for double screened copper braid and copper foil with air spaced dielectric) which will provide the best performance and be suitable for all digital signals including freeview and Sky.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Darren

Am i right in thinking you are looking into releasing a silver HDMI Cable, as i recall you were looking into componants to make a lead, or have i got this wrong.

Hi Andy,

Yes we have a Silver-line HDMI Interconnect which is currently in development. Sorry but I do not know when it will be launched.

If you have any further questions or queries then please let me know.

Kind regards,
Darren

so if i have two tvs to supply a signal to, does that mean i should have two cables coming from the aerial one going to each of the relevant rooms? is that a normal arrangement, does it need anything special at the aerial end?

No just use an ariel splitter or amplifier if needed to boost signal.
