Short speaker stands?

I've recently put together a second system in my study which comprises of a Technics SU-X977 amplifier (really handy for connecting to the PC as it has a built-in DAC) and some Q Acoustics 1020 speakers.

The speakers are currently residing on my desktop, which of course isn't ideal.

Are there any speaker stands out there which are about 20cm tall? This should raise the speakers nicely up to ear level.

Can you tell me if the SU-X977 runs with the rear fan on all the time? I have been given one and it appears to work except the rear fan doesn't come on even though the internal heatsink is getting quite hot. I didn't want to run it too long withouit knowing if there is a temperature sensor to turn on the fan in case of overheating.
