Hi i want to buy a new headphone for my pc,but im choosing between the Sennheiser HD800 and the Beyerdynamic T1.

My current setup is a Sennheiser pc360 headset with a Asus essence stx II soundcard.I use my headphone for 60% gaming and 40% youtube/music (mainly electronic music). Now im wondering if the HD800/T1 is overkill cause i would just use them for gaming mainly. Would i be better off with something else or prehaps something cheaper?Anyone has some experience in this?

Thank you.

Both of these are definite overkill for gaming but if you've got money to burn then go ahead. Can't offer any advice regarding a cheap suitable headphone as I'm not into gaming, I'm into hi-fi only *preved*. I'm sure someone will be along soon with options.

Not so much overkill as bright and, in the case of the T1, peaky. I'd get either a good planar that's not bright with some solid bass, or use something like a Senn HD650.

Defintely overkill, they are for audiophile use with an amp and the highest quality source.

If you want a great headset for gaming have a look at the Audio-Technica ATH-AG1.

Don't buy such expensive headphones if you don't have a great source and great amplification.

I'd advise you to check out the Beyerdynamic T90 or the Hifiman HE-400i. These are excellent headphones that are great for gaming and sound nice with less expensive components too.
