Sadly in all walks of life there are too many "muppets," those who have an ego the size of Brighton.

Do you mind. I find that quite offensive.

'Bournemouth' ... thank you very much.

Is that the muppet or ego reference?

This is getting better by the minute. Now I even have to make a choice.

... decisions, decisions

For me I get annoyed by the cliquey bunch who think they rule the roost on this forum. The people who casually dismiss others opinions as if they could not possibly be correct in their post's. and sometimes so rude as to not even warrant a reply.

I am a hifi enthusiast! and this sort of behaviour takes away the enjoyment of being a member of this forum.

There ......got that off my chest.

Perhaps you should try an unmoderated forum and see how you get on.

What a shame. I've always enjoyed your posts and exchanging opinions with you Dan. I'll miss your contributions, although I completely understand why you might have had enough. We all get there sooner or later and end up taking a break. I hope it is only that and that we see you back here in time.

In the meantime, every best wish both with your hi-fi and in your life.

I know how you feel mate, I had the same problem over on guru3D forum there was some great chaps on there but just too many Muppets, so I stopped posting on there, IV found there's not so many Muppets on here, but you get them on every forum to be honest.

Good look mate.

As I don't regularly contribute to the Hi Fi section (shame one me, it is the What Hi Fi forum after all) I can't say I've come across your posts often. That said, it's a shame if you've reached that point where you feel so demoralised as to walk away, though it's absolutely your prerogative to do so.

I agree that sometimes the posts on here can be confrontational or dismissive (hell, I'm certainly prone to posts of that ilk myself, opinionated fella that I am). In my view, however, most are in good spirit and I think the forum is far less hostile than others I've encountered.

On the other hand, much as I would encourage you to stay, I've been claiming on another thread that we all spend too much time socialising via interface, so perhaps you should step out, into the sunlight, and maybe make your way to the pub for a face to face conversation with a few mates. I'm sure it will cheer you up and it's always preferable to a virtual existence. I think that's part of the problem -- too many internet tough guys. I'm sure many wouldn't converse with people at work or in a bar the way they do online. If they did, they'd risk receiving a lot more than a disgruntled text response...

Best of luck mate!

Very, very true. Having a spirited dialogue is one thing - I've been there many a time - but I think we all know the difference between expressing a view and going over the line. I've done that at times, but I think I've enough in me to express an apology or make amends when needs be. It's the oiks out there who don't that really rankle.
