As nice a piece of music as it is... unfortunately it has been overplayed for the entirety of the 31 years since release.

Tune into any station with the word 'Gold' in it's name, and Baker Street will be along within 20 minutes, guaranteed. It is probably playing somewhere in the world all the time.

Agreed- its a shame because it deflects away from Raffertys non played stuff. City to City and Night Owl are fantastic albums , and "Whatevers written in your heart" and "Right down the line" are far superior tracks, the former getting very little airspace.

Clicky listen (as I am right now- just had to.)

Not forgetting the excellent On A Wing And A Prayer album with "Don't Speak Of My Heart"

Its probably an urban myth but I read somewhere that Sting gets about £1000 a day for royalties from Every Breath You Take.

I would imagine Gerry isnt far behind.

You are pretty close to the truth, when you take it that BBC Radio 2 pays £20 per minute - @ 4 mins thats £80 a time - 13 plays = £1040.

Add together all the stations that play it around the world, a lot obviously pay less than the BBC, but it soon adds up; could even be a lot more.

As they say, write a classic and you've got a pension for life.
