As you can see I have gone and bought a new turntable of which I'm very pleased with. But what about my old Sansui ? I was under the impression that Direct Drive is better. Should I be able to get parts for it still? Is it still a good turntable? Should I keep it for my 2nd system (must then get a Pre-Amp, and speakers)

I'm open to all suggestions about this topic.

The simple answer seems to me that in your main system you should use the TT you most like the sound of.

DD vs belt-drive...oh dear I can hear the worm-can breaking open from here. Basically both methods have their merits and drawbacks. One TT certainly won't inherrently sound better than another TT purely because of the method it uses to rotate the platter and nothing else. There are far more factors than that. But expect to find an equal number of fanboys on both sides of the equation, each of whom will swear the other side is a fool. :)
