I am surprised that in high definition it is only par with some of the better televisions, I would have thought it would be better than that!

I can understand the appeal in certain circumstances (BB's included), even though UHD technology's not right for me at the moment.

What they mean is that upscaled HD on this 4K TV is on par with some of the full HD 1080p TVs showing content natively. Upscaled content can never be better than native content.

AV Forums review of the 55-inch version makes an interesting comment about screen uniformity:

Wow! It’s not since we last measured a plasma TV (remember those?) that we’ve seen screen uniformity like this. From a chequerboard pattern the black portions all measured within 0.004 cd/m2 of one another, which means a mostly black screen looked almost evenly dark. That’s almost unheard of with LED/LCD tech and we can’t overstate what a positive impact that has on viewing enjoyment. Or at least, it takes away a lot of the frustrations we’ve had in the past.

On 4K black levels do look strong but I wonder if they will be as good on 2D? I see it got 8 out of 10 again for dynamic range, black levels and contrast though. One guy on the comments is saying that he will trade in his Pioneer for one.

I've worked out I can't get the LG OLED TV on my stand! :doh: This Samsung will be okay though. 🙂

The stand on the LG is too long, edges would be sticking out either side. Not at the moment but I always keep an eye on the market to see if there is something I fancy.
