Samsung S3 Screen

A quick question for the lucky folk who attended the launch. :)

On paper the S3 screen is the same as the Galaxy Nexus, but in your report you said the screen looks superb. In your brief moment with it could you tell if the screen was better / different to the Galaxy and maybe how it compared to the One X?

Thanks for the feedback :)

Its a pentile RGBG display like on the S2 - but the higher res and better colour saturation compensate for any loss of sharpness.

I'll ask our news ed, Joe Cox, to answer this one as he was at the launch last night and was able to get a quick hands-on with the S3.

Indeed it is the same on paper as the Nexus, though for the record the S III uses Gorilla Glass 2 rather than the Fortified screen of the Nexus and of course it is a little bigger. All we had to go on was the HD video loaded on to the S III but first impressions were very good. The faster processor compared to the Nexus will no doubt come in to play when simply moving around the OS, which seemed really responsive, and allows for new features such as Pop-Up Play, while you'd expect the HD Super AMOLED screen to give the One X a real run for its money. We've got a Supertest in next month's mag pitting the Nexus against the One X, amongst others, so look out for that...
