samsung 5 series plasma vs panasonic pz80

would normally go for the panasonic 50pz80 every time but now the samsung 50 556 is under £700 thats a third less than the panasonic and the samsung did get 4 stars on this site at £1300. does this now warrant consideration at this very tempting price?

I'd still go for the Panasonic in absolute performance terms, but at £700 or less I can see that the Samsung would be a very tempting proposition. It lacks the subtletyof the best sets, and there's some blocking evident on DVD and TV pictures, but if you can put up with that it's certainly very good value.
