Dear All!

HELP NEEDED!! Currently, having the Roksan Kandy K2 amp and CD player. Looking for a pair of speakers to go with them. Basically, I have auditioned quite a wide range of speakers and have came down to 3 choices:-

1.) Roksan Kandy K2 Speakers

2.) ATC SCM11

3.) B&W 704

In your opinions, which ones should I go for??? Am really confuse now. Can someone offer some advise? Better if someone could make a decision for me. Thanks.

Why can't you decide? Nothing between them? Too much between them? Which did you like the sound of the most? I'd be inclined to think that options 1 or 2 would be a better match for the amp as the B&W get tricky to drive well.

Well, I prefer the soundstage and details on the 704s... but I dont have a big room to put it in... thus leaving me with the SCM11 and K2 speakers. The problem is that I'm in Malaysia and that we don't have the K2 speakers here. The dealer said that if I want, he would have to ship it from UK.

After reading the reviews from WHF, I must say I'm very impress by the K2 but I couldnt audition them myself. Would you think its gonna be a big punt to just go for the K2s? Having said that, the SCM11s are a great pair of speakers.

Should I go ahead and get the K2s without auditioning it? Or should I just get the SCM11s.

If you have auditioned the ATC SCM11 loudspeakers and like the sound of them, go ahead and purchase them.

I would recommend this over the K2 loudspeakers, because you have not listened to them. It is imperative that you listen to loudspeakers, as they are extremely personal.

Dan.

Don't buy speakers without listening to them. Go for the ATCs.

I think the ATCs will stand you in better stead as you upgrade your electronics in the future anyway.

Unless you're willing to take a risk, never buy a speaker you've never heard, regardless of how well they're reviewed - a review is one person's opinion.

Thank you all for the sound advise.

FYI, The dealer will be bringing both the 704s & SCM11s to my place for another audition. Do you think its necessary to audition the 704s in a 11x18 feet room?

I like both speakers, each gives me a different feel. The SCM11s sounded brighter and the vocals are brilliant but its soundstage is a little behind the 704s. On the otherhand, the 704s excel in filling the room up and provide more details but isnt that bright and the vocals cant match the SCM11s. This presented me with some dilemma, I listen to singers like andrea bocelli, celion dion, sarah brightman etc, R&B, loves jazz and also symphony orchestra. How I wish I could have both!

Is there any other speakers that anyone could recommend that would suit the music I play and the Roksan K2 amp & CD player?

Try the Proac Response D1, or maybe the Response D2 if you need something a little more powerful. Also, given your musical preferences, try the KEF XQ series, either the XQ20 or XQ30.

Hi, I also have the same cd and amp combo.

Also not in a large room.

I have some PMC GB1i speakers.

There really detailed, but a bit more expensive than the others you've mentioned.

If you can get hold of PMC speakers where you are, then I'd deffinately reccomend having a listen.

I'd advise going for whatever you like the sound of best, these would sound good with the type of music you've listed above (but try demo them with some of your cd's so can get an accuate example of what there like).

Hope thats helpful.

Cheers, Dan.
