Sorry boys, I don't do humble pie with MA's predecessor silver range of speakers. Prime example of style (and bulk) over substance but as always my opinion only and I would never expect everyone to agree with me though I'm sure, gradually, you all will come round my way of reasoning once you are using/heard speakers that excel where (in this instance) RS6's fail ... which is in just about every respect other than woolly bass, they're almost unbeatable there. Admittedly, nice woodwork and shiny drivers though. Perhaps therein lies the problem ... everything else around the price tends to look either a/much smaller or b/prosaic so a change to a good speaker comes at cost to a bit of show off value.

Joking aside, as mentioned, they did sound passable with Arcam's A38 and they are, materially speaking, good value with their nice finishes. I can understand anyone plumping for them on that basis. Something like PMC's DB1i, Ruark Sabre's, Totem's or any other good standmounts look almost a little sad next to them but they tend to spend the money where it count's more on a speaker. As with everything, something, somewhere has to give. That's not to say that everyone else gets it right all the time. There are a couple of sub 1 grand floorstanders I mostly like but on the whole, a soundly engineered floorstander costs money, more than an RS6. - Easily heard when comparing them to the next range up both within MA and other manufacturers but sadly, IMO, also when compared to comparetively priced products such as from KEF's floorstander range, to name just one which are a lesson in neutrality, low distortion bass and vastly superior imaging. Not faultless either, especially not at this price but to these ears, vastly preferable in the long term.
As always, one man's onion only and promise, my anti MA (silver range) rant end's here ... for today.
