For a British turntable that isn't a Rega or a Rega clone, your best bet would probably be the Michell Tecnodec. You'd need to add an arm - one of the Regas probably! - but the deck could later be updated with the HR power supply. This is still quite a bit cheaper than the entry level Gyro and would no doubt sound superb.
