Hi all

Right first off I'm looking to re-new my aging surround sound system but I'm unsure about what amp to get in relation to my room size. I'm after detail and speed over going loud, also the room is 4.5m x 4.5m. THe other constraint is I think because of the room size I'll be going for "style" packages. I'm thinking about the new Onkyo 606 but also considering the 875 (but would this be too powerful for these style packs?)

Speakers I'm thinking about are, in no particular order:

KEF 3005 SE, Tannoy arena lite, Quad L-lite, MA Radius 90AV and B&W mt-30. I know the final choice of speaker will be up to my ears but I'm more concerned at present with getting an amp that I can use effectively in my space.

Looking forward to any ideas.

I have the R90s as my rears and they are great - very nice small cabinets too. The 875 would not be too much for any of the speakers you mention in my opinion. It could take bigger better speakers but it won't be too powerful for the pretty ones.

Subeastu. I've just seen in the hifi section that you have a stereo set up as well. Have you thought about using your stereo speakers as your front left and right speakers as well? A simple interconnect from your new receiver (875, 805 or 705 the 606 doesn't have the capability) to your stereo amp and you can keep your Dalis connected to your stereo amp. You will then just need to buy rears, centre and sub.

I thought about that in the past using as you say the towers for fronts and then menuet II for rears and the vocal for the centre. Couldn't decide on a sub though. My only problem with this is the amount of space all of this would take up (stands for the rears really. THeres no real way of getting the rear speakers behind the sofa). The other problem is the complete lack of info / reviews about the royal series, especailly for an AV set up.

I'm confused about having an AV and a stereo amp hooked up to the same pair of speakers. Does this mean that its just a matter of turning on the appropirate amp and that bypasses the other one to power the speakers? Would this reduce sound quality as I presume the signal would travel through the circuitry of the redundent (stereo) amp?
