Hi guys looking to try and date this turn table and get a little more information on the model and or history of it. To my knowledge this is a English company. Any help appreciated.1000000106.jpg

I know the name from long since discontinued loudspeakers. A quick Google reveals this history, so I must surely be an early offering from the same company.

Not easy from one incomplete picture, but surely for 78 rpm shellac discs, maybe from the early 1950s?

Thank you for coming back to me with further info It appears to have a collaro mechanism so I assume your right in relation to 78rpm based on sharing a mechanism used in other 78s1000000109.jpg

Ah, Collaro was the brand my parents’ record player from the 1950s which also had the new-fangled 33rpm and 45rpm! It plugged into a table radio.

I omitted this link from my earlier post.
It does appear to have speed control option and when it arrived there was a 33rpm record inside. Looks like some one had been tinkering with the mechanism as there was one to many springs in there. Some one had jerry rigged a 3rd spring due to one spring being over slack. Think il just replaced the original spring and get it up and running. May have to dig some of my parents 78s out to try please note last image was a stock image of mechanism.

That continuous calibration lever suggests a wide range of speeds. The huge arm suggests about 6 grams tracking weight and I’d not want to see how long an LP lasts under that duress!

Does it have a working cartridge and needle? It may be a crystal or ceramic type.
