Replacing my NADC338 & BW speakers with Genelec G Three. Worth it?

Hi

I am looking to "simplify" my hifi system at home. Currently I have a NAD C338 with BW 685 with Bi-Wire connected cables. I have been looking at Genelecs active speakers, G Three or G Two. I think G Three would be a more equivalent fit.

Would I be replacing my current system with a similair system in terms of performance and sound quality? Or is this a bad idea?

They have some measurements suggesting a slight boost in the base. They are interesting to look at, and obviously not for everyone. They are designed for use as near field monitors, in for example mixing studios. I don’t know how well they would perform in a room at normal listening distances i.e. not near field. Also, some people aren’t keen on a more neutral sound. As usual, the best approach is to suck it and see. I think musical instrument shops might stock these.

Use a set on my desktop for a few years with a DCS Bartok Apex as a DAC/Pre
Warning if not up to par ,they will show every fault on your source , power cables , interconnect cables , used for mastering , recording in studios as near field monitors & brutally honest. Get things right can sound like $100,000 speakers

Great question! I think @daytona600 has answered this by highlighting that some speakers are highly analytical when others are an easier listen. And he used top flight kit with them.

I’m inclined to opine that if you need to ask here you may not be able to get the best from the Genelecs, but please don’t be offended by that thought.

I’d be interested what source you intend to use, and the size of your room.
