While I love my Grado SR60's the leakage is driving she who must be obeyed nuts!

Can anyone suggest comparable quality headphones which aren't likley to get me kicked out?

I listen mainly to Classic Rock and acoustic singer songwriters

Cheers

I have the same problem and I intend to audition Sennheisers new 380`s when I get a chance. Shame though because your Grado`s are great for Classic Rock. Keep them if possible for when you have the place to yourself. Just to warn you the 380`s will cost a little more. Not sure of exact price but they`ll be over a hundred. There are others of course but I`m going to audition these first.

In the process of looking at 'closed back' phones right now. There's a bit of a shortage of 'over ear/closed back' headphones in the current WHF price guide. However, the Sennheiser HD280Pro look very good. About £100, they have dropped off the price guide now but were reviewed with 5 stars.

Ta much gents, Seems like a bit of a holy grail! Grado's will be staying put for our music room, suspect I'm tuck with my in-ears (Sen CX500's) for living room for the time being! Will see if can try out the 280's

I quite like the AKG172 HD's, although the sound is not as 'open' and detailed as the Grados due to them being closed back design. As they are closed back, they don't suffer much leakage. If you want to move a little closer to the 'open' sound then the 'sister' pair of AKG142 HD's might suit you. They are semi-open, and offer a more airy sound. The leakage is nowhere near the Grados, although obviously there is some.

AKG's have a distinct sound, which may not be to everyone's taste - but try them out and see. They are comparable in price to your Grados too!

Personally, I would buy Sennheiser every time - but at this price range semi-open is all you can get and they tend to leak a bit at high volumes. HD595's are incredible though, for the money.
