Hi all,

Last night my Panasonic TV remote control just stopped working (TV=PZ85b). I have tried the following:-

1. Turned the TV power off at the mains for 2 minutes and restarted - no joy

2. Changed the batteries (four times) - no joy

3. Tried my Panasonic BD35 control to turn the TV on - this worked

From the above I feel my remote has become defective, it has not been dropped or soaked. Any wise tips on getting the thing working again, or is it just a case of taking it back to the shop (only bought in Dec 08) for a new remote??

Hi, My guess is Faulty Remote, as you have covered possible cures. The fact that the bd35 remote operates the tv eliminates the tv sensor. So back to retailer with it i"m afraid TB.

Try pressing the buttons one at a time in case any are stuck , You can use your BD35 remote to control TV while you wait for a replacement , or it might be time to get a Harmony One and consign all your remotes to the cupboard. Mine haven't been used since getting my One in Feb.

If you have a phone with a built in camera point the remote control unit at the lens with camera switched on, all digital cameras are sensetive to IR to some extent, you should see the IR emitters glowing, maybe even pulsing depending on make and model. They are quite directional so make sure that you are a few feet away looking directly at remote. Have you checked for corrosion on contacts?

Thanks for the replies, am at work at the moment so will try the digital camera route tonight and post back. Yes contacts are clean, only six months old, like I said it was working and then just stopped.

Thanks again
