Question Rega Planar 1 turntable matt

Q: I bought a 1-year-old P1 which came with the wool mat. This is my first turntable in 30 years. (when I bought all my vinyl I lived with a flatmate who had a Linn deck, so never bothered and then CDs came along...)... so was surprised how 'woolly' the mat is... read lots etc and I know it's ok, understand the softening effects... should I buy a cork/rubber mat, or just stick with it? looking for people experienced with the P1 (It has the RB110 arm with the Carbon cartridge)

bought planer 3 and changed mat to a leather one much better no static cost about £40 same thickness.

I went with a acrylic mat. Also no static. Cost about £25.

try these silicon dots works great and very cheap.

Funk Firm Acromat, probably the thinner 3mm would be better, since the 5mm may require you to raise the arm.

so thanks for all the advice... I went for and tried an acrylic mat.... and it's brilliant. dust and static reduced enormously. sound quality is sharper and richer. Also bought a 'weight' which is a ****** to centralise.. but the combination is fantastic. added 10% at least improvement to the sound quality (purely my perception!!!) but then I have tinnitus is one ear 🙂
