After many years of listening I feel my Rega Brio need an upgrade, I miss separation of instruments in fast and complex tunes and whole midrange sound blotted, but funds doesn't allow me to go for a new amp instead I am thinking buying secondhand, how about Primare A20 is it worth upgrading over Rega? I mostly listen to dance, house and pop and some classical, i will be using it with DacMagic via SQ3 mostly losssless or 320KB ripped files.

Any other recommendations over Primare A20 are also welcome too. Thanks

I use an Apple TV into a DACMagic, Primare A20 MkII and AVI Neutron Vs. It would certainly an upgrade over the Rega, and are available for bargain prices s/h - mine was £315, and there's one ending soo on the 'Bay. Speakers might be the key here though, what do you use currently?

Hi JD, thanks for swift response I currently use B&W 685 do you think they will work well with Primare A20 or I need to replace these as well. Also how is the bass response and midrange on this.

The midrange is gorgeous, bass is tight but I'm not a big bass fiend and have speakers that reflect this, so maybe am not the best person to comment. I'd expect the 685 would work well - the A20's not that excitable in the treble, so shouldn't worry those aluminium tweeters too much. But this is guesswork (unless I can borrow the work 685s tomorrow
