RED FLASHING ANNOYING DOTS

I have a 42" Hitachi Plasma screen using a Denon AV receiver. I seem to getting scattered red dots flashing on my screen which are visable on dark scenes. I thought at first it could be my amp but I have plugged both my Blue ray and Sky HD direct to the TV and the problem continues. Does anyone know what this could be ??

Are they visible on a blank screen - ie on an input with nothing connected? If so, may be a panel/processor problem; if not, more likely to be a problem with one input, or a signal problem.

Either way its bad news - only one HDMI input and the 5M HDMI cable is in my wall!

If it happens on all sources, it's more than likely the HDMI cable, unless it's an incompatibility with the HDMI cable and TV.

Sorry but i might have some bad news for you - i had the exact same issue with a 50" Philips plasma about 3-4 years ago - the red dots or how I like to put it the "red dot crawl" on mine started out when you first turned the tv on and then went away after about 10 minutes - then they stayed on longer until they wouldn't go away - I took in into a Philips repair shop and they tried a couple of new boards but in the end it was a defective plasma panel. Fortunately it was still under warranty and Philips replaced it with a 52" LCD which to be honest I like even better - the black levels are not quite as good but everything else is way better.
