Unless I've missed them, no one has mentioned any of John Carpenter's filom scores. Halloween is a cracker, and Halloween III is predominantly electronic, and has elements of The Thing, Escape From New York, Halloween and Assault On Precinct 13 to it. This has been one of my most played film scores over the past twelve months.

I agree Carpenter's scores are good and were partly influenced by the work of Dario Argento and GOBLIN whose original score for "Suspiria" is also frighteningly good.

My favourite is 'I'm Not There'

Soundtrack to The Assassination of Jesse James is great as are most of the scores written by Cave and Ellis.

I Am Sam

Almost Famous

7 Assassins

Rocky

Platoon

Once

Trainspotting

Few others already mentioned. I'm sure there plenty more. There is a beautiful piece of music used in Raging Bull currently being beat out by that 118 nonsense.

Great thread by the way.

Thanks for the reminder about "I Am Sam". Excellent and sensitive Beatles covers by (mainly) little known artists. Top quality recording too.

To add some not mentioned so far.

Depending on your mood - Dreamgirls - some fantastic singing.

Hairspray - in our house there are many reasons why we just love it!

Step Up (the first one) has a good sound track if you're into modern dance music - the final dance sequence is particularly full of impact.

Awesome FIlm. Can't wait to own it on BD. I saw it at the cinema on a massive WB screen. It was so loud, it was quite frightening having huge Lions rore in your face. The DVD sounds great so it should be awesome on BD.
