Can someone please recommend the best composite cable (i.e. the Red/White/Yellow) that I can buy? I can't seem to find any on the QED or the Chord Company websites and I don't recall an Award Winner for this. Thanks.

Hi there

In truth, not sure we've tested any composite video cables recently, only component or HDMI. I'll check with the team when I get in the office later. What will you be using it for?

The picture quality on composite video is sufficiently low - at leasr relative to that on RGB, component or HDMI connection - to make cable quality for such connections less important. I'd go for a reasonable well-made cable for the video element - from somewhere like Maplin - and conventional stereo interconncets for the audio component - ie on the 'red/white' cables.

Thanks for the speedy reply guys! OK, so I should go for something like the Award Winning Atlas cables for the stereo interconnects then and a separate composite video cable. Any recommendations of particular Brands that I should check out for the composite video cable? I can't seem to find one from the major manufacturers like QED and Chord Company. Or would any "plain vanilla" composite cable work just fine as well?

Thanks Andrew. So, the plain vanilla ones that are supplied with DVD players, etc are fine then?

I went shopping today and here are some options that were recommended:
1) Atlas Element Composite for Video http://www.atlascables.com/index.php?id=227 and Atlas Equator MK II RCA for Audio http://www.atlascables.com/index.php?id=93

2) QED Qunex P75 for Video http://www.qed.co.uk/i150c197-158/QED_Cables/Digital_Interconnects/Qunex_P75.htm and QED Qunex 1 for Audio http://www.qed.co.uk/i115c170-158/QED_Cables/Audio_Interconnects/Qunex_1.htm

3) Monster Standard Composite Video/Interlink http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=266

So, all this would be an overkill then, right? Or would I be able to see a huge difference in performance? Thanks.

Yes any of those would be fine, but unless you have a particular interference problem I think the plain vanillas or the ones I suggested would do just as well, given the relatively low quality of composite video

Thanks Andrew. I'll try out the plain vanilla ones first then to see whether the quality is acceptable.
