Hi

After playing some music over this weekend I have noticed that my m1's are starting to fart a little when trying to play loud , so thinking about upgrading to floor stands which can handle some loud music but still be the same if not better than the m1 for watching movies.

Budget wise around the £1000 pound mark but for that money would want a definate upgrade in sound and performance

I could use the 2 spare m1 for a 7.1 setup then I guess ?

Setup wise

Pioneer vsx-lx53 - pioneer bdp-lx71 - b&w m1's with PV1 sub

Room size 10ft x 11ft

Hifi shop suggested the KEF's, I had the q series years ago with the same amp and they couldn't really cope with the amps power output either

Any suggestions for some speakers I should have a listen to would be greatful

Thanks

You should try the Kef R Series, which are in a totally different league to the XQ series, let alone the original Qs.....and sound completely different as well.

£1000 would get you the R300s, which pack quite a punch for a Standmount (and would work in a room that size).....the cheapest Floorstanders in the range are the R500s at £1500, but they are very good indeed.

I also think they would be a great match with Pioneer.....though ideally, it does mean that you would need to look at an R Series Centre at some point in the future.

The KEFs are excellent speakers (I have the r500s). You could try pick up a pair of cm8s ex demo and keep things Bowers & Wilkins?

About a year back I had the cm8s & pv1d at home on demo, sounded very nice.

Rick.
