Hi,

I'm looking for FM tuner suggestions.

- second-hand available for <£100

- narrow case needed - half-width or narrower

- tuning knob rather than buttons

- ideally black, ideally a digital numeric display.

Cheers,

Rob

Cyrus FM7

Tuning knob, digital display, half width.

One on ebay which is currently less than £100 but with six days left to go.

Or go really 'retro' with something like this....

They sometimes come up on ebay.

I had one back in the early 1980s. Fine machine in it's day.

That sony is v cool, but no good for my rack.

Thanks for the Cyrus FM7 suggestion - the last few went for £84-£125 so it might be in budget.

Cheers.

The obvious ones that spring to mind are Cyrus and Naim. I know they're normally £500/1,000, but they've been out now for 10-20 years, so I would've thought you'd get one close to £100. The Naim NAT02 is a fantastic sounding radio, so worth seeing what you can get one for.

Left field - you could get something like an old Denon DRM7 (or whatever it was called, mine's in storage or I'd check) receiver, and use the tape out to feed a line level signal to your amp. You could probably pick one up for about 10 quid...

You have not been on ebay in a while have you?

A NAT-01 or 02 will be £700 - £800 in good condition.

A NAT-01 with no working display recently went for £350.

NAT 03 will be £250 - £350 depending on condition and where bought. (Ok I know it's not half-size.)

The Cyrus looks about right, but I'd prefer the Naim. Even tho my amps have changed away from Naim I still have a soft spot for both the CB and Olive looks. However, I'd be surprised if I could get a NAT02 for my budget...the last few NAT03s went for ~£250 on eBay. ' Course if a NAT01 drops in my lap for pennies then I'll consider it 'job done'!

I try and stay away as I end up spending money on Vans and vinyl - way too much money......
