Receiver + two-channels = perfect solution?

Intrigued to find out whether the guys on the forum who have their integrated amps rigged to a surround sound receiver have noticed a diminished sonic quality compared to a stand alone stereo when played through the front speakers?

Your not detailing HOW? When I had my arcam stereo and denon av setup it worked fine (But the cd went straight into the arcam, as opposed to through the denon)

If you talking about through the av into the stereo then yes, you can expect a degrade in quality

If you mean using the pre outs from the receiver to stereo amp, no diminishing returns as you don't need the receiver on when listening to cds - the 2 channel speakers are only connected to the stereo amp.

There is no loss in quality, you connect the CDP and TT etc up to the stereo amp and the front pre-outs from the AV receiver to the stereo amp. The stereo amp always drives the front speakers and the AV is switched of when listening to the CDP or TT etc.

Well I think you got your answer...
