Does anyone know if the rear speakers of Samsung HW Q90R soundbar be placed on their sides instead of upright without affecting their functionality?

By the looks of it they cannot. Unless you don't really care about Atmos then it shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks. I do care about Atmos. I don't want to use any kit in a way that they are not meant to be used.
I checked with Samsung UK technical support and they seem to think that placing these particular rear speakers on their sides should NOT pose a problem with the drivers or other functionality. It might not be necessary after all but just checking in case.

That's a very interesting advice. Did you ask them if they understand what Atmos is. Unless it's me...
How much - if anything - do rear speakers contribute to the Atmos effect? Many high-end soundbars like Sony HT ST5000 or Sennheiser Ambeo are supposed to be very good with Atmos and yet neither has rear speakers.
