I am living in Taiwan at the moment - and the only B & W dealer in the country is helping me choose the right B & W selection for my 7.1 set up. At the moment - I havent bought anything yet...and there is a limited budget...( Cant afford the 800 home theater option)

I liked the sound of the XT4's as fronts and the XTC as center speaker with the PV-1 as subwoofer. They have these in stock. But I am not wanting to buy conventional rear and surround speakers - I want dipole speakers for THX usage...

They have DS7's in stock too but they are from the 700 series which is already out of production. Here would be the set up.

XT4 - 150W

XTC - 150W

PV-1 - 500W

DS7 - 120W

Alternatively I could try to get some of the 700 series which they may have to match with the DS7's...

703's - 200W

HTM7 - 120W

ASW700 - 500W

DS7 - 120W

The only thing I dont like about this set up the total 700 set up is the HTM7 - which at only 120W - may be weak and lack enough strength between the sounds of the 200W fronts...

Anyway - there is my dilema - any thoughts would be of help....

Hi

Could i ask what amp you are going to use with these?

Thanks

Do yourself a favour. Ignore the power handling figures for the speakers. They're just going to confuse you.

Power handling has nothing what-so-ever to do with volume levels and clarity and such.

Thanks for your great advice. I am going to probably use a Denon AVR-5308ic for the amp....

I heard the XT series today - it has a depth and space to the sound that is quite unique...however, it lacks midrange detail and treble crispness...

I think I prefer the 703's...much more richness if not the atmosphere of the XT series...

For my a/v system I have thew XT's.

XT2 x4

XTC

then for the final 2 rear channels - I got B&W CCM65 in-ceiling speakers

Sub is Velodyne SPL 1000ii

Running from a Pioneer LX71 a/v amp and Denon 2500BT Blu-Ray transport

Love it - is a very well balanced system .....

Sounds a treat - now my dealer is suggesting I buy two 803s as front speakers with the HTM4 as central with the DS7's as rear and surround - and the ASW700 - and of course more expensive -

But I do wonder - between the 703's and the 803's as front speakers - will the sound be THAT much better..for movie usage...

I know all about the nautilus but I havent heard them yet...
