R.I.P. Rick Buckler (former drummer of The Jam)

I am completely gutted after I read the news yesterday. I was a huge fan of The Jam. He was a fantastic drummer who was the spine of The Jam sound - and he was a local lad.

Sorry to hear his passing, he's left the departure lounge and boarded his flight to heaven. RIP

Great live band, lucky to see them in 1982 at Wembley arena.

The song Funeral Pyre has to be one of finest drum solos in popular music. Not flash but the rhythm is constant. Excellent drummer that produced a BIG sound from just the three of them.

I must catch up with that.

I went to junior school with Bruce Foxton, and there was even a school snap of us in the same football team in my last year before ‘seniors’.

He occasionally popped into Aerco Records in Woking when I was in the Hifi shop, looking suitably rocky with bright coloured leather boots and jacket. I read in some of Rick’s obituaries that Bruce might not be in great health either. 🙁

No, Bruce recently had an operation on his legs. He's subsequently revealed he's retiring from music, after the latest tour of 'From The Jam'.

I think all that physical leaping around the stage has knackered his back as well as his knees. Yes, he seems to be recovering well according to their FB page
