Questions from Hong Kong

Hey Guys

Looking for some help.. I am in Hong Kong but many years in the UK turned me on to What Hi FI. Struggling however with what seems to be different model codes between the two contries??

For instance I am in the market for a new LCD 52 inch

EVERYONE in Hong kong thinks SHARP is the best, but I look at the reviews in What Hi fi and I see the SHARP LC52XL2E is noted as "distincly average".. Now it becomes quite diffficult as there is no such thing as that model code here. The ones I am looking at are

- SHARP
LC-52GX3H HK$59,800
SHARP
LC-52PA63H HK$42,800
These seem to be very high spec and look good in the shop.

I am therfore wondering

- Does UK have the same codes? is LC52XL2E comparable to LC-52PA63H or LC-52GX3H?

- Or are these just new models that UK does not have yet?

- Why is the sharp reviewed so badly in What Hi fi when it is the byword for class out here?

- Any other recomendations on 52 inch?

Hello Hong Kong! There's a good chance the Sharp models you have over there may be different from the UK spec ones, so I'd check with Sharp.

As for other recommended 52in models, the Sony KDL-52W3000 (5 stars) is excellent and sells in the UK for around £2000. Not sure how much that would be in HK$ or if it's available there.

Another good 4-star model is the Toshiba 52Z3030D, also £2000.
