Is anyone looking forward to this Blu-ray as much as I am?

OK, so the film wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but I still consider it to be one of the better efforts of the series. I think a lot of people were disappointed more by QoS just because The Dark Knight had completely obliterated Batman Begins just a few months earlier - they expected the same sort of thing for Bond, and they just didn't get it. Many pointed out that the action was poorly shot and edited - I agreed at first, but I pretty much completely changed my mind with a second viewing.

Anyways, just the thought of seeing that Aston roaring along a mountain road on Blu-ray and with good surround sound just makes me grin like an idiot!

If the PQ and SQ are anything like Casino Royale's BD then we're in for a treat!

Any thoughts on the film? Anyone as eager for the Blu-ray?

Have to say I enjoyed QoS at the cinema - not as good as Casino Royale but thought it was a great film still in its own right. Didn't really understand the Bourne comparisons or the complaints on lack of gadgets personally.

One of the few Blu-Rays I'm breaking my rule of not paying more than £15 for and have it on pre-order since I can't see the price coming down for quite some time and I too am eager to see it again.

Cannot come soon enough for me. Agree with you prof on your comment on gadgets, I found it quite refreshing to not have lots of silly gadgets in the film.IMO the films are better for that and Daniel Craig also brings a grittiness to the films that has been lacking in previous outings. I think it is a film that does need watching a couple of times though and it will not make sense if you have not seen Casino Royale.

I have put it on my birthday list for t'mother-in-law, didn't see it at the cinema and only just seen Casino Royale in the last month or so.

I have just seen the latest Indiana Jones film for £30 in HMV leeds. No special gimmics just the normal Blu-ray. Unbelievable!!

idc:Superb David Arnold soundtrack to the film, best one in years. Though I am not so kean on the Jack White/Alicia Keys title track Another Way to Die

Agreed - my favourite is the opening track ('Time To Get Out' on the album), which makes excellent driving music! But I resist the temptation to get a little reckless when an Alfa Romeo pops up behind me in traffic! lol.

I found the title song to be something of a grower - I didn't know what to make of it when I first heard it (a couple of months before the film release) but I think it has a certain appeal. I think the vocals are meant to be a little grating, in keeping with the kind of dirty, grungy feel to the rest of the song - ultimately, the song's grittiness is a good match for the film.

I just wish they'd kept Daniel Kleinman for the titles - MK12's 'retro' titles are pretty laughable (especially the title font). I disagree that a Bond director should be allowed to bring on his own crew members the way Forster did with them (and his editor, etc)...

Sorry, I could get into a rant here! Hey, I enjoyed the film, but it could have been better...

Clare Newsome:We've had a sneak preview of the Blu-ray, and it looks - and sounds - awesome. March 23rd can't come quick enough for this Bond fan

I know! That's when the new 'Mastodon' album is released!

Ok, leaving aside what I'd generously describe as its mid-trilogy feel, Quantum of Solace is a fantastic film on Blu-ray, it's as good looking as Casino Royale and the sound, especially when cars are getting wrecked in the first chase, is properly immersive. The Leisure Lab's Quantum of Solace Blu-ray review is up.

Mine arrived yesterday from HMV following pre order, picture is great, but I'm disappointed with the sound not for it's quality but I haven't got a new surround amp and mine doesn't decode DTS only Dolby Digital and QOS doesn't have a DD5.1 mix except for the commentary track. Will have to save up for a new amp...******!

Quantum of solace, overated, too many explosions, too complicated for a bond story, and oh yeah daniel craig the worst bond ever and hes also overated,i just watched THE INVASION with craig in it he is so average for an actor ive seen more charisma in a library with my eyes shut.

Someone said in an ealier post DARKNIGHT is better than BATMAN BEGINS, errm no thats another overhyped load of tripe doesnt even feel like a batman film and was only hyped further just because heath ledger break your back mountain died ! batman begins is a better batman film period.

Sorry for the rant but had to be done.

I personally think DC is the best Bond yet, however QOS was very average and not a patch on the previous film. Excellent BluRay for PQ & SQ though!

QoS is a terrible film. Some dialogue or story would be desirable.

Thought it was very good personally, even better on second watch. Not sure why people had trouble following the story, seemed fairly basic to me. And this is a good thing, I can't say I've ever gone to a Bond film for a "challenging" film, so not sure why this should change now.

Yes I think it does need watching twice.

I totally agree - this movie definitely needs a second watch!

When I watched it initially at the cinema, I found it dreadful, and I fell asleep!

Watched it again on blu-ray a couple of weeks back, and I loved it!

visionary:but WHY does it default to sub-titles every time I play it, or is it my player? None of my other BD films do it!

You need to knock off the subtitles manually before the film starts.

Just the way its setup I'm afraid.

We had a James Bond/Daniel Craig evening last night with Casino Royale closely followed by Quantum of Solace. While I did enjoy CR (again), QoS (first time viewing for both of us) was appallingly poor. They clearly have a sequel in mind, or nowhere very interesting to take the plot as it finished abruptly in a "no end". I was waiting for maybe another 30mins of it when the end credits started rolling. SO Disappointed, especially after the very decent effort that was CR.

CR 7/10

QoS 2/10
