Quality HDMI Cables

I have just bought a Panasonic BD35 blu ray player which will replace my PS3 and will be connecting it to my Denon AVR1909 AV receiver and 1080p TV ...I have been given a QED HDMI-P cable as a present which i have heard is a very good quality HDMI Cable ….until I can afford to by a 2nd cable of this quality which one of my existing average HDMI cables should I replace with the QED, or would it not make any difference until I get a 2nd QED cable.

1) the one between the blu ray player (was PS3 is now Panasonic BD 35) and the denon AV receiver?

2) the one between the Denon AV receiver my TV?

I'd put it between the Blu-Ray and the amp so you can benefit from the sound performance improvement.

But if you want to be sure, try it both ways round and see which you prefer. If you don't think there's any difference, you've saved yourself a few quid on another QED.

This will turn into a long post - they always do.

The best thing you can do is try each and decide yourself. One thing for sure is that if your screen is hdmi 1.3 compatible and is 1080p 24fps etc as well as your receiver, you will not get the full shebang if your lesser cable is not 1.3.

Not exactly true that. At 1m I doubt any cable would struggle with 1080p/24fps and HD audio. Regardless, there is no such thing as a 1.3 cable, they're speed rated now, at 'Cat 1' or 'Cat 2'.

To answer the OP - absolutely no difference!

No, IMHO the likes of hdcable.co.uk, markgrant, tmfsolutions (octava) are all more than enough and I use them myself in my own system. ÿThe only expensive one I have is a bettercables one for my projector run. ÿAll the 3 suppliers I've mentioned are reliable and knowledgable. ÿCheck them out.

The golden question - it really depends on the quality of your freebie. In my case, upgrading to a Chord saw good improvements. But as I said, since you have both, try it out and see for yourself.ÿ
