It's totally subjective and depends on the kind of room you're putting it in. I have to admit that I'm a relative novice compared to a lot of the people in this forum and I was interested in the prize-winning 1010i package. However, after doing a fair amount of research and reading a lot of reviews, it seems that the main differences seem to be improved crossover and an improved subwoofer. I felt that these improvements weren't worth the extra £150-200 to me personally so I bought the 1010 package for £299 to go with an Onkyo 605. The room it's going in isn't very big so the improved subwoofer wasn't a deciding factor for me as I have to keep the volume at a reasonable level anyway in order to keep the neighbours happy. The money I saved has gone on high quality speaker cable and some nice speaker stands. I'm thrilled with the result and I think I got great value for money. However, if you have any doubts and you have the time, you should definitely try to get to a place where you can audition the two sets to compare them. I didn't have that luxury but I am happy with what I've got.
