PS3 720p or 1080i on an HD Ready 1024 X 768 resolution TV?

When setting up the PS3 for the very first time it asks if you want to accept 1080i

If you say no it automatically continues with the set up . In this case what resolution has it given?

Has it given a setting of 720p for example?

Should I have accepted 1080i and let the TV downscale to 720p...or is it 768...I get confused

I guess there's really not that much difference anyway between 720p or 1080i anyway is there?

Got a great deal today at GAMESTATION : A PS3 40GB, Metal Gear 4, Call of Duty 4 and....... I Am Legend Blu Ray for £350

Don't worry too much about it! If you go into display settings from the PS3 menu, you can choose what resolutions you want to output at. If you've declined 1080i, it'll output the other resolutions, including the SD ones and 720p. You can reselect 1080i if your screen supports it.

It won't make much difference to most games, as 99% are 720p (or less) anyway, and the PS3 will output at that res. It may be different with Blu-Ray, but you're probably best just experimenting!

Not really, not on a 720p panel. But as I said above, have a tinker and see what you like. There are a lot of conflicting opinions out there on this subject, so go with whatever looks best to you.
