We're adding an extension to our house (21ft x16ft) and I'm in charge of the gadgetry side of things. Here is my proposed AV set-up, I'd welcome any views or opinions:

TV - Pioneer PDP LX5090

Receiver - Yamaha AX863SE

Speakers - B&W 684 theatre

Speaker Cables - Chord Co. SilverScreen

BluRay - Pioneer LX51

Thanks!

We won't argue with the screen, although the KRP500 would be a better investment for Bluray as it does look a little cleaner with a little more depth to the picture. Not many stocks around at the moment, same as the 863's, so I hope you're not looking for this system straight away! Unless you have a pre-order for the amp, I don't think you'll see one this side of Easter. Cables and Bluray fine, no arguments there either. If you're looking at speakers like the B&W's, we'd recommend looking at the Yamaha 1900 as a minimum to get the best from them. Also, is this system purely for movies? If so, with the price that the 684 package is, you could also consider the Miller & Kreisel M series packages, which start from just over £1400. These are designed purely for the purpose, and tend to outperform hi-fi speaker packages above their price point. Again, we'd recommend a minimum of the 1900 for this sort of package.

Thanks David, good advice.

We looked at the KRP500 but couldn't tell enough difference on demo to merit the extra wonga. I'm frantically keen on music and the system will be used approx 40/40/20 for Music/Movies/Gaming, so I'll definitely consider upping the amp quality to get the most out of the speakers.
